These are some of the questions you may be asking if you're looking to buy Toppik hair concealer.
Toppik is another thinning hair concealer that was released some time after the 'leading' product in this field. I put the word leading in dashes because it could now be highly argued CABOKI is not the market leader.
If you've read my CABOKI review on this blog then you already know what it is, and if you haven't, chances are you already know what CABOKI is and how it works, so I won't go into introducing CABOKI here.
CABOKI vs Toppik
As someone who has used both of these products I can give you an honest review on the battle of which is better. (In my opinion and experience.)
Don't get me wrong. I won't sit here and tell you one of them is so much better and you need to go and buy it right now. No, they are, simply put, very similar.
Is Toppik better than CABOKI?
Well, let me talk you through Toppik as a hair concealer and how I found it performs. Toppik uses the same similar technology as CABOKI to make the hair fibres stick to your hair. So in that sense, there's really no difference.
Toppik comes in a lot of colours that actually challenge it's rival CABOKI, which is a very important factor to consider. In my opinion you're more likely to find your hair colour if you go with Toppik.
Like CABOKI, you simply shake the fibres into your hair and pat them down to make them hold better. I've found that the Toppik fibres actually stick better than the CABOKI fibres over time. For me, the CABOKI fibres have a tendency to fall out of my hair onto my forehead and it makes it really obvious.
Toppik on the other hand tend to stay in my hair all day and usually the next day too, although you should really put new fibres in everyday.
Don't get me wrong, the Toppik fibres will drop out in tiny clumps too, but only if you rub them hard enough. These are the result I've had after using both CABOKI and Toppik in conjunction with hair spray.
I think hair spray is definitely a must have for either one of these products. And for me, I use extra strong. It's important to note too that I've never had problems with Toppik and harsh weather. The fibres have done a good job of staying in my hair all day in gusty wind and rain. This is not the case with CABOKI.
CABOKI does do a good job of holding all day but not as well (for me at least).
Another important weather type to consider is sunshine. I've found that both of these products tend to go a strange shade of green if you're out in the sun long enough.
On a recent trip to Egypt I found that after lazing round the pool for a few hours in the heat it changed it's colour in my hair. It was nothing too obvious, but it will be obvious to you.
How does Toppik hold in water? Well, surprisingly well. On the same trip to Egypt I was obviously concerned what I would do when it came to getting in the water and getting my hair wet. And too be honest, it didn't really change much. If you've still go enough hair ontop and your slightly receding, the Toppik will stay in you're hair.
I can't say the same for if you have hardly any left though. I would imagine if you used a strong enough hair spray prior then it shouldn't effect it that much. So that's something important to consider about Toppik. But I give it a thumbs up when it comes to getting wet, whether it's in a pool or rain.
I have not tried CABOKI in a pool so I can't comment on that but I would hope it would be just as good.
I also like the feel of Toppik. It doesn't really feel like you've got anything in your hair. For me, it still feels soft and manageable, not rough or coarse which is what I found with CABOKI.
It gives instant coverage and fullness to your hair and it looks so natural. I was so shocked when I tried it. Obviously I had my doubts because it wasn't as well known as CABOKI at the time but I was impressed to say the least.
Is Toppik cheaper than CABOKI? Yes! I am yet to find a cheap CABOKI product in comparison to Toppik. CABOKI prices seem a little high to me, especially after I tried Toppik which is sometimes half the price! So, cheaper doesn't always means worse!
All in all I've had much better success with Toppik than CABOKI and I would highly recommend it.
Thank you for reading my Toppik review and I hope it helped.
Wow! I am impressed by these toppik reviews! I really want to use Toppik hair products. But I was seeking professional advice before starting using them. Thanks for sharing this wonderful post!
